Description

Hayman was a copper mining town site about 5 miles northwest of Lake George. Prior to being called Hayman, it was known as Jasper City and was first platted March 18, 1896 by the Jasper Township and Mining Company. Jasper City had ?a first class 10 room hotel, two grocery stores, one hardware, one saloon, numerous tents and log cabins, all running at full blast.? At one point there were not less than 200 prospectors in a two mile radius of Jasper City.
