With the arrival of the railroad in Park County, hotels were built to accommodate visitors eager to escape city life. Park County became a popular summer destination, and businessmen invested in Park County recreation.[1]

The Pacific Hotel in Como received many visitors due to its proximity to the railroad depot. The hotel hosted many activities for citizens and visitors, such as balls and banquets.
